Summary/Overview |
|
Design and
release engineer for underhood and chassis mounted Powertrain components
including Air induction systems, radiators, fuel and vapor lines and
interfacing components as required. Responsibilities include validation,
prototype and launch support. |
|
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES |
| |
 | Develops engineering workplan for assigned components
consistent with program objectives. |
 | Completes all APQP required engineering documents for
assigned program content. |
 | Tracks program timing related to design release,
tooling, manufacturing, test certification, pilot, and production build
schedules for all assigned parts and systems |
 | Initiates Design Work Orders and reviews designs to
ensure objectives are maintained. |
 | Assists in developing engineering expenditures
required to achieve program objectives. (Submits Purchase requisitions
for prototype parts and test properties) |
 | Initiates Shop work orders to develop prototype
builds and physical tests |
 | Monitors prototype and pilot build for adherence to
design intent identifying and resolving problem areas |
 | Originates or reviews and approves all program
engineering releases and change using the Product Change Notification (PCN)
process |
 | Attends program core group meetings. |
 | Provides Engineering management with program status
updates on a regular basis. |
 | Assists in reviewing and updating corporate
engineering procedures |
 | Reviews and updates job performance objectives
periodically to reflect new information and new technology.

Education & Experience |
|
|
 | Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or
Mechanical Engineering Technology |
 | 10 or more years of related experience and training,
or |
 | Equivalent combination of education/training and
experience |
|
|
Knowledge & Skills |
|
|
 | PC Skills |
 | Excellent Interpersonal and organizational skills |
 | Excellent writing and oral presentation skills |
 | Effective group leadership skills |
 | Knowledge of FMEA, FEA, EPL’s, OEM Engineering
Release Process, QS9000 |
 | In depth knowledge of PT components, interfaces and
critical parameters |
 | Experience with cooling module optimization
techniques for all underhood heat exchangers |
 | Heat management and Powertrain durability experience |
 | Underbody line routing and packaging best practices
incorporating vibration and engine roll |
 | Experience writing EWO’s or WERS notices
