Mainframe/Midrange Analyst
Fort Worth, TX
General Purpose of Position:
Mainframe / Midrange Analyst is responsible for managing delivery
of services and review of standards in the Mainframe and Midrange area. Ensures
that mainframe and midrange service delivery will enable client's continued
business growth through effective delivery in an outsourced environment.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
 |
Responsible for working with the Solution Provider to monitor the Mainframe
and Midrange service delivery processes with all business units |
 |
Provides guidance on process improvements for mainframe and midrange
operations |
 |
Works
closely with COE Service Delivery Director and BU Relationship Leaders to
facilitate overall adherence to Midrange/Mainframe strategy and
specific BU needs |
 |
Works
closely with Supplier technical delivery manager to:
 |
Ensures Supplier compliance with standards |
 |
Identifies service delivery issues and develop improvement plans |
 |
Provides
subject matter expertise for all issues related to Mainframe and
Midrange platforms |
 |
Assists in business case development for all issues pertaining to
midrange and mainframe |
 |
Reviews Supplier performance data to identify trends and issues and
develop performance improvement plans |
 |
Reviews and make recommendation on any exception request to established
mainframe or midrange standards |
 |
Develops close working relationships with Service Delivery Director, PMO
organization and Business process staffs |
 |
Interacts with other COE, BU and Infrastructure Operations Sub-committee
members as appropriate |
 |
Develops close working relationship with Supplier mainframe and midrange
delivery manager, change management and problem management groups |
 |
Interacts with other Supplier personnel as applicable |

Position Requirements:
 |
Strong understanding of mainframe and midrange computing systems and
interrelationships with other IT systems |
 |
Knowledge of how IT systems can be structured and deployed to enable
achievement of business goals and objectives |
 |
Ability to plan operations requirements one to three years in advance
|
 |
Experience in creating and defining new operations models/procedures and
explaining complex problems or situations |
 |
Ability to build and sustain effective partnerships with third-party
services supplier |
 |
Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to
dynamic business needs |
 |
Excellent
oral and written communication skills; an ability to present and discuss
technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others,
and gains understanding |
Education, Experience, Training Requirements:
 |
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline
with an IT focus |
 |
3-5 years
experience in mainframe and/or midrange operations environment |
 |
Significant experience and knowledge in new computing architectures and
implementation of networked computing structures |
 |
Understanding of outsourced services delivery model; experience working in
outsourced environment a strong plus |
 |
Extensive
Wintel server configuration experience with MSCE certification a strong plus |
 |
Experience in management and monitoring of Midrange platform security
settings and configuration options |
