Sales Engineer - Automotive

GENERAL
DESCRIPTION:
Our client is a world-class leading
automotive components supplier. The position is located in the northwestern
suburbs of Detroit, Michigan. No relocation package is available.
Applicants must be legally qualified to work in the U.S. and must reside in the
Detroit area. This position will report to the Sales Manager. Key
responsibilities include:
 |
Generate sales in the
business group (Automotive Mechanism Sales) products and services within the
assigned scope of responsibility to achieve business group volume and
profitability growth objectives |
 |
Primary Commercial
interface to assigned customer on commercial issues. |
 |
New Business
Development ‑ identify and successfully pursue new business opportunities. |
 |
Cultivate relationships
with key customer individuals across a variety of functions |
 |
Primary Engineering
interface to assigned customer on application engineering issues. |
Essential
Job Functions:
 |
Identifies and develops
new accounts. |
 |
Identifies and develops
key accounts. |
 |
Responds promptly to
inquiries and seeks out and calls upon potential customers to identify their
needs for the company's products or services; works closely with customer
personnel and company personnel to fill those needs. |
 |
Maintains current
knowledge of all company business groups systems, equipment and capabilities
and keeps customers informed of new developments in which they have an
interest. |
 |
Presents proposals in a
manner causing the customer to purchase from the company. |
 |
Serves as interface
between company and customer, commercial issues, obtaining technical data,
performing, arranging service support, etc. to ensure customer needs are
satisfied with resultant performance integrity as a basis for future mutually
satisfactory business dealings. |
 |
Forecasts order volume
for the assigned scope of responsibility to facilitate the Sales: |
 |
planning and other
projections, as requested. |
Secondary
job Functions:
 |
Remains alert for sales
opportunities relevant to other divisions or business groups and passes
appropriate lead information to soiling counterparts in those organizations.
Develops quotations in accordance with the Company's objectives and
philosophies, requesting home office support as necessary.

Establishes and
maintains favorable work relationships with customers and prospects and
develops a good image of, and customer confidence in. the company as a favored
vendor as part of overall sales strategy. |
 |
Monitors and reports
competitive activity and provides sales and marketing feedback and
direction to the Company. |
 |
Keeps
supervisor/manager currently informed of all matters that effects the Company. |
 |
Performs other
duties and responsibilities as assigned. |
Education,
Training, Certifications
Four‑year degree in an
engineering/technical discipline.
Experience
 |
Must have the ability
to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Must be capable of working
with a high degree of personal discipline. Must have potential sales
leadership qualities. Experience or training in some aspect closure and/or
seating mechanisms is highly desirable |
 |
3 years of sales
experience or 5 years of other relevant company experience. Must have the
ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. |
 |
Must be capable of
working with a high degree of personal discipline. |
 |
A demonstrated ability
to seek out and identify now opportunities within assigned accounts.

Job Knowledge and Skills
 |
Competency in using
computers, Microsoft Office, Excel and Word. |
 |
Interpersonal skills:
Strong written, and oral communication skills. |
 |

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with customers, internal and
