Summary/Overview
Lead Design Engineer- Mechanism’s / Seating:
responsible for the engineering and design of automotive seats,
mechanisms and structures including the design, development, testing,
validation and support of manufacturing for improvements of current
systems and advanced development of new systems.
This position is responsible for design and development of new and
carry-over applications of mechanisms and structures. This includes Seat
Adjusters, Recliners, Head Restraints, Lumbar Mechanisms, Seat back
latches, floor latches, etc. The engineer will be responsible for
Complete mechanism product design in Cad including tolerance studies,
packaging studies, fits, tool clearance and manufacturability. As well
as engineering deliverables including product design, drawings and
checking, product specification, analysis, PDFSS, DFMEA, DVP&R, and
Safety Sign Offs and design objectives / program timing. Pugh analysis,
root cause analysis, design guidelines, best practices, past program
lessons learned, competitive product benchmarking information. Ensuring
prototype samples meet appearance and functional performance standards
and ensuring completion of appropriate product validation testing.
Optimizing seat system weight, cost and part count. Using core
components when possible.
Essential Duties
& Responsibilities
 |
Perform studies to benchmark
and evaluate competing design proposals. |
 |
Design concepts and perform
vehicle package studies Catia v5 CAD software. |
 |
Evaluate seat & mechanism
kinematics, FEA analysis, and interpret results. |
 |
Create drawings and apply GD&T,
Critical and Significant Characteristics. |
 |
Generate BOM's, maintain open
issues lists, and typical engineering documents. |
 |
Conduct component tolerance
studies and assembly stack evaluations. |
 |
Perform engineering
calculations for mass, strength and performance. |
 |
Schedule and comprehend test
results, prepare DFMEA's, PFMEA’s and DVP&R's. |
 |
Prepare engineering
documents, and coordinate with customer, suppliers, and assembly plants.

Education & Skills
 |
B.S. Mechanical Engineering (B.S.M.E.) |
 |
Must be mechanically inclined and demonstrate strong problem solving
skills with a positive "can-do" attitude. |
 |
Prefer 10+ years of experience in related field including Mechanism and
CAD design software experience, and proficiency in engineering process.

 |
Good computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite).
